It is always good to hope for the best, but you also have to be realistic and prepare for the worst. You should have the basic necessities to keep your family safe in times of natural calamities. This is the reason why it is important to keep an earthquake survival kit. You can bring your checklist and prepare this kit on your own, or find online stores that offer a complete kit.

American Red Cross strongly recommends that you keep the following items in your earthquake survival kit, and to keep them handy too:

*Water – at least 1 gallon per person per day; store at least for 3 days (including pets)

*Food – ready-to-eat meals, canned juices, soup and milk; special foods (infant, elders, for people with special dietary needs)

*Clothes and beddings – sturdy foot wear or shoes, warm clothing, rain gear, blankets or sleeping bags

*Tools – non electronic device you need for food preparation, to cut things, pliers, tapes, etc.

*First Aid – antiseptic, lubricants, thermometer, sunscreen, and gauze pads, sterile adhesive bandages, etc.

*Documents – passports, will, family records, credit card acct numbers and companies

*Sanitation – soap, toilet paper, disinfectant, poop bags
