disaster survival kits

I saw the devastation brought about by hurricane Katrina. I remember when I was watching the footages of its aftermath in New Orleans – it was disheartening. I never imagined that it can happen to one of our states. Truly my compassion goes to all that was affected by it. I remember our family donated sets of disaster survival kits at that time since we are unable to join as volunteers.

I made a lot of realizations after that disaster. We as a nation can truly be one when dire situations occur like the 9/11 catastrophe. I admire our compassion to our brethrens and our spirit of volunteerism. Seeing ordinary people, statesmen, celebrities, businessmen, old and the young united to help rebuild New Orleans was admirable. Katrina may have humbled us but it also brought the best in us.
