thumb cuffs

Police often use handcuffs as restraints. But there is another restraint that can be used that is similar to the handcuff. The handcuffs still allow movement of the fingers and especially the thumb. But with thumb cuffs, a lot of the movement of the hands is limited.

They are quite small but very effective in restraining any suspect. Since their thumbs are restrained, it will be harder for them to fiddle into their pockets and get anything that can help them escape. And if you really want to make sure that they cannot grab hold onto anything, slap them both with a handcuff and a thumb cuff. The only way they can get out of these restraints is when somebody unlocks them and let them escape.
