Kubotans

This weapon got its name from the developer, Takayuki Kubota. It is basically a stick about 5 inches long with a key ring on one end. To the untrained eye it just appears like a common personal item but is actually a weapon. It is used to apply pressure to sensitive parts of the assailant’s body like bony surfaces, soft tissue and nerve points. There are new improvisations like flashlights, pens and hairbrushes meant for the same purpose.

Kubotans come in different forms and are made of different materials. They can be made of aluminum, plastic or other materials. They are inconspicuous and easy to use. They are effective in fighting assailants. But more importantly, awareness of the reality of crime and taking the necessary precautions are the keys to personal security.
