A quality leather shoulder system is much more preferable than synthetic flap holsters. Galco holsters, which originated in Chicago, Illinois back in 1969, are constructed using horsehide. It was then known as The Original Jackass Leather Company. By 1980, the company’s name was changed to Galco International.

Galco soon became famous for its high quality and innovative designs. The company gained international recognition when the Jackass shoulder system became popular in the TV series Miami Vice. Today, Galco remains to be a favorite choice in films and TV shows than any other holster maker. Likewise, Galco continues to be a major force in real-world firearms usage.
