When there is a need to amplify a person’s voice to be able to be heard by more people, he uses a megaphone. It is a portable, usually hand-held, cone-shaped device that will amplify a person’s voice towards a targeted direction. A more efficient version is the bullhorn which combines the megaphone, a microphone and a speaker into a single unit that will adjust voice to a desired level. It is provided with a handgrip for easy handling. The person using the bullhorn usually points the direction of the bullhorn to where he wants to be heard.

A 35-watt bullhorn is powerful enough to carry a message 1,000 yards or more. It is very useful for crowd control, giving orders and instructions. You often see people with bull horns when watching a competitive game. It is a useful tool for the cheerleader. On the other hand, it can also be used in a negative way. They are sometimes used to create a disturbance.
